SOCAR to establish AI center and data center in Azerbaijan

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will establish an artificial intelligence center and a data center in the country, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf said during a panel discussion within Baku Energy Week.

According to Report, he noted that SOCAR is expanding its scope of activity and investing in new projects in both energy and digital technologies.

"SOCAR started as an oil company, then became an oil and gas company, and at a later stage evolved into an energy company by adding renewable energy sources and combined-cycle gas turbine power plants to its portfolio. The next stage of the company's development is related to data centers and AI infrastructure. Like many companies in the energy sector, we are also investing in data centers and AI. This direction is of strategic importance for maintaining long-term competitiveness," he said.
