Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Côte d'Ivoire's PETROCI Holding have reviewed progress on the development of the Baleine oil and gas field and discussed expanding cooperation across the energy sector, Report informs, citing SOCAR.

The discussions took place during a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and PETROCI Holding Chief Executive Officer Fatoumata Sanogo, SOCAR said.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with their cooperation on the Baleine project and reviewed work carried out as part of the field's development.

They also exchanged views on strengthening their partnership in areas including upstream development and production, crude oil and petroleum products trading, refining, digitalization, the use of artificial intelligence, human capital development, and other fields of mutual interest.

Located offshore Côte d'Ivoire, the Baleine field is one of the country's largest offshore oil and gas discoveries. It was discovered in 2021 and began production in 2023. The field currently produces more than 62,000 barrels of oil and over 2.1 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. SOCAR holds a 10% stake in the project.
