The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) subsidiary SOCAR Georgia Petroleum has imported 5,000 tons of high-quality gasoline to Georgia from Italiana Petroli, a company within the SOCAR Group.
According to Report, citing SOCAR, the first batch of fuel, compliant with European EN 228 standards, was delivered to Georgia aboard a SOCAR-owned vessel.
This marks the first direct commercial transaction between SOCAR Georgia Petroleum and Italiana Petroli, following SOCAR's acquisition of 99.82% of Italiana Petroli's shares on May 8, 2026, after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals. The acquisition expanded SOCAR's activities in oil refining and fuel sales across Europe.
SOCAR Georgia Petroleum Director Nodar Kanchaveli stated that combining Italiana Petroli's expertise in refining and quality control with SOCAR's international infrastructure will diversify Georgia's fuel supply. He emphasized that the cooperation will ensure a more reliable and continuous supply of fuel meeting European standards.
SOCAR has been active in Georgia since 2006, when SOCAR Energy Georgia became the company's first subsidiary established outside Azerbaijan.
