SOCAR AQS completes drilling of high-pressure well at Bulla Deniz field

SOCAR AQS has completed drilling and well completion operations at high-pressure directional production well No. 118 drilled from Platform No. 6 at the Bulla Deniz gas-condensate field.

The company told Report that the Bulla Deniz field, discovered in 1975, is one of the strategically important gas-condensate fields in the Baku Archipelago. The main objective of the project was to provide a more accurate assessment of gas reserves and bring a new gas-condensate well into production.

According to the company, drilling at directional production well No. 118 was successfully completed to a depth of 5,800 meters on a turnkey basis. A 5.5 × 7-inch production liner was then installed, pressure-tested and handed over to SOCAR's Azneft Production Union.

"Despite the complex geological characteristics of the Bulla Deniz field and the technical challenges encountered at various depths during drilling, we completed the project safely, to a high standard and in line with international standards. This result reflects the effective cooperation with our client and contracting partners, the professionalism of our team and timely engineering decisions," SOCAR AQS Chief Executive Officer Samir Mollayev said.

The company noted that one of the project's key achievements was the optimization of the well completion design and operational procedures. As a result, for the first time in the history of Azneft and the Narimanov Oil and Gas Production Department, a downhole pressure gauge capable of continuously monitoring downhole pressure and temperature was installed. The solution is expected to play an important role in production monitoring and more efficient well management.

SOCAR AQS was established in 2007 by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Nobel Energy and Absheron Drilling Company LLC (AQS). The company provides integrated drilling and well services and has extensive experience in oil and gas well drilling through the application of advanced drilling technologies and modern management methods. It has been a member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) since 2009 and operates in full compliance with applicable international standards.
