Shahbazov calls for pragmatic and balanced global energy policy

Global energy policy must be balanced, pragmatic, and oriented both toward current market needs and long-term energy security, Azerbaijan"s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to Report, he said the recent energy crisis clearly demonstrated a fundamental reality: while access to resources is crucial for energy security, it is not sufficient on its own.

"We certainly need reliability, long-term commitments, and, of course, resilience. Energy policy plays a critically important role in this regard," the minister emphasized.

Shahbazov noted that energy policy must respond to the needs of today's energy market while also being future-oriented.

"We must already lay the foundations of our future energy security. That is why it is extremely important to have a flexible, pragmatic, and balanced energy policy within the region," he said.

The minister also stressed the importance of diversification, saying that diversifying routes, sources, and technologies has already proven its necessity.

"Without diversification, it is impossible to build the energy security of the future. The recent crisis has clearly demonstrated this need," he stated.

He added that Azerbaijan has been and remains not only an energy supplier but also a reliable and predictable partner for building both current and future energy security.
