Shahbazov: Baku's hosting OPEC+ meeting is no coincidence

Hosting the inaugural Technical Committee meeting of the OPEC+ Charter of Cooperation (CoC) in Baku was not a coincidence, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov stated during his speech at the meeting, Report informs.

Shahbazov explained that the decision on hosting the event in Baku reflects the high recognition of Azerbaijan's role both in the history of the global energy industry and in the development of modern international energy cooperation.

"Azerbaijan's long-standing active participation in the OPEC+ initiative demonstrates the successful growth of cooperation between the country and the organization," he emphasized.

The minister also recalled that the display of the world's first industrially drilled oil well, drilled in Bibiheybat in 1846, at OPEC's headquarters in Vienna confirms Azerbaijan's special place in global oil history.
