Shah Deniz gas exports from Sangachal terminal up by more than 4%

In 2023, oil and gas from ACG and Shah Deniz continued to flow via subsea pipelines to the Sangachal terminal.

During the year, the Sangachal terminal exported about 230 million barrels of oil and condensate (-2 million barrels, or 0.87%), Report informs, citing bp-Azerbaijan.

This included about 229 million barrels (+4 million barrels, or 1.8%) through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) and around 1 million barrels (-6 million barrels, or 85.7%) through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP).

On average, 71 million standard cubic metres (about 2,515 million standard cubic feet) of Shah Deniz gas were sent from the terminal daily during the year 2023, up 3 million standard cubic meters, or 4.42%, from 2022.

The daily capacity of the terminal’s processing systems is currently 1.2 million barrels of crude oil and condensate and about 81 million standard cubic metres of Shah Deniz gas, while the overall processing and export capacity for gas, including ACG associated gas is around 100 million standard cubic metres per day.

Gas is exported via the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), including the SCP expansion system and via Azerbaijan’s pipelines connecting the terminal’s gas processing facilities with Azerigas’s national grid system.
