Renewable Energy Agency: Azerbaijan plans to develop its energy strategy

Azerbaijan plans to develop its strategy in the energy sector, Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy, said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week 2025 (BCAW2025), Report informs.

"We need professional experts and young specialists to build this potential domestically and tackle all these challenges ourselves-envisioning both long-term and short-term plans. This is part of our 2027 and 2030 strategies. But we don't want to rely solely on expert capacity; we also need technical engineers working in geothermal energy, carbon capture, utilization, and storage. I believe the Clean Energy Center will help us find these solutions," she said.

Humbatova added that reducing industrial emissions requires the use of hydrogen technologies-particularly green and clean hydrogen: "According to EU directives and regulations, the key concept now is clean hydrogen. Taking into account Azerbaijan's water scarcity and biodiversity protection priorities, we can apply all possible solutions."
