Georgia ranks second or third in Europe after Azerbaijan for natural gas prices, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a government meeting, Report informs.
He said that despite the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe, according to the agreements signed with Azerbaijan, prices in the country are meager:
"Therefore, I urge everyone to be responsible and not create misconceptions among citizens."
Garibashvili noted that inflation and price increases are a problem in Georgia, as well as around the world: "Georgia, of course, cannot be an exception. Thus, Georgia is a small country with a small economy that is a world market member."
The PM also commented on the price of gasoline in the country. He said that Georgia ranks 100th in the world in terms of fuel prices: "We are neither gas nor an oil producer. Georgia is an import-dependent country. I urge citizens not to succumb to provocations."
