Parviz Shahbazov: Azerbaijan shaping new regional cooperation through green energy

Azerbaijan is shaping a new regional cooperation architecture through green energy initiatives.

Report informs that Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said this at an event titled "Cities at the Heart of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation," held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

The minister said the green energy zone concept being applied in the liberated territories is now also expanding toward Nakhchivan: "The key criterion distinguishing the cities of the future will no longer be the height of buildings, but the strength of interconnections between cities. Energy lies at the center of these connections. Located at the crossroads of Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East, Azerbaijan plays a strategic role in building regional energy and green electricity connections. The development of the Middle Corridor and the Zangazur corridor is of great importance in further strengthening this role."

Shahbazov noted that Azerbaijan"s green energy initiatives linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye and Europe contribute to the formation of a new energy cooperation architecture.

The minister stressed that modern cities are no longer assessed only by their size, but by their resilience, innovation, sustainability and level of integration: "Azerbaijan is proud to contribute to the development of regional partnerships in this direction."
