Kazakh government allocates around $35M to modernize Astana's infrastructure

The Kazakh government has allocated over 16.2 billion tenge ($34.9 million) from its reserves for the development of Astana's engineering and energy infrastructure, Report informs via Kazakh media.

Of this amount, 8.7 billion tenge ($18.7 million) is earmarked for the construction and modernization of wastewater treatment facilities.

Another 7.5 billion tenge ($16.2 million) is earmarked for the development of the capital's energy infrastructure. These funds are planned for the construction of the closed 110/20 kV Karlygash substation with connection to existing power grids, as well as the modernization of turbine unit No. 1 at Astana-Energy JSC's Thermal Power Plant No. 2.

After the modernization, the electrical capacity of the Thermal Power Plant No. 2 turbine will increase by 30 MW, from 80 to 110 MW. This will increase the reliability of the capital's power supply, taking into account the annual growth in electricity consumption, the government emphasized.
