Iraq values energy deals signed during PM's US visit at $200B

Iraq estimates the value of the energy contracts and agreements signed during Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to the United States at approximately $200 billion, Iraqi Oil Minister Bassim Mohammed Khudair said, Report informs via INA.

According to the minister, the agreements with HKN Energy, Chevron and Halliburton, as well as the agreement with Syria on the Haditha-Baniyas oil pipeline, are expected to contribute to increasing oil and gas production, creating jobs and training Iraqi specialists.

Khudair said Iraq's oil production capacity has exceeded 4.8 million barrels per day. He added that the country is also negotiating with OPEC to increase its export quota and aims to fully meet its domestic natural gas demand through its own production by 2030.

The minister also said Iraq does not oppose the participation of Turkish companies in the development of its oil fields.
