Gil Mihaely: Azerbaijan's energy resources ensure EU's energy security

Azerbaijan's energy resources play a crucial role in ensuring energy security and diversifying the energy supply for European Union (EU) countries, according to Gil Mihaely, director of Conflicts magazine, Report informs.

Mihaely made these remarks at a conference titled "France and the Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict."

He highlighted that France was among the first European countries to express interest in an energy partnership with Azerbaijan.

"French company 'TotalEnergies' has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1996. The company owns 35% of the Absheron gas-condensate field and 5% of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline," Mihaely stated.

Mihaely also emphasized the importance of President Heydar Aliyev's role in strengthening Azerbaijan-France relations through his participation in signing oil and gas contracts with French companies at the Élysée Palace. He further recalled that National Leader Heydar Aliyev's first state visit to France took place in December 1993.
