Gas transmission via Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum pipeline rises nearly 3%

In January–May 2026, Azerbaijan transported just over 17.574 billion cubic meters of gas through its main pipelines, marking a 2.6% increase year-on-year (YoY), Report informs, referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, 54.1% of gas transmission was carried out via the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum (BTE) pipeline, exceeding 9.507 billion cubic meters – 2.5% higher YoY.

The BTE pipeline delivers gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in Azerbaijan's section of the Caspian Sea to Georgia and Türkiye. Commissioned at the end of 2006, the pipeline initially transported gas from Shah Deniz Stage I. Since summer 2018, gas from Shah Deniz Stage II has also been delivered through the expanded pipeline to Türkiye, where it connects to TANAP.
