Former Latvian president calls on society to support climate solutions

Azerbaijan has been preparing for several years to transition from fossil fuels to modern energy sources, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and former President of Latvia, said during a roundtable held as part of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW 2026), Report informs.

According to Vike-Freiberga, public support for political decisions aimed at protecting the environment plays an important role in addressing climate change.

She stressed that with the support of citizens, recommendations and ideas put forward by experts, specialists, activists and civil society representatives have a greater chance of being implemented.
