EU countries increase import of oil products from Azerbaijan by 286 times

In January-July of this year, European Union (EU) countries increased the import of oil products from Azerbaijan by 286 times compared to the corresponding period of 2022 to 201,930 tons, Report informs, citing the calculations of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).

According to the calculation, the value of oil products exported from Azerbaijan is estimated at 118.04 million euros (+146 times).

Among the EU countries, Greece was the country that imported the most oil products from Azerbaijan. During this period, Greece imported 128,450 tons of oil products worth 64.93 million euros from Azerbaijan. Cyprus took the second place (40,240 tons worth 31.29 million euros).

In January-July, 40.24 thousand tons of oil products worth 31.29 million euros were exported from Azerbaijan to Cyprus.

A year ago, Azerbaijan did not supply oil products to Greece and Cyprus.

Malta closes the top three of the list. In the first 7 months of this year, Malta imported 24,000 tons of oil products worth 14.88 million euros, respectively, up 214.7 times and 381 times from January-July 2022.

At the same time, in July of this year, EU countries imported 43,170 tons of oil products worth 22.57 million euros from Azerbaijan. This means an increase of 1,053 times and 347 times, respectively, compared to the same month of 2022. A significant part of the import fell to the share of Greece, whcih imported 42,620 tons of oil products worth 22.06 million euros in July.
