Azerbaijan's energy system is relatively small and does not have wide-ranging integration with the energy systems of neighboring countries, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said during panel discussions organized on the second day of the Baku Energy Week.
Report quotes him as saying this refers to limited connections with international energy networks:
"If an energy system is small, it must have strong links with other systems. In this case, it becomes possible to export surplus energy and import it during periods of shortage. In Azerbaijan, these opportunities are still limited. The development of energy interconnectors will play an important role in solving this problem."
