Brazilian airline Azul is reducing its flight capacity due to rising aviation fuel prices, driven by the situation surrounding Iran.
According to Report, which cites Reuters, company's CEO John Rodgerson said the carrier will continue to cut the number of flights in order to preserve liquidity amid ongoing uncertainty.
Rodgerson noted that the world's largest airlines are already reducing their transportation volumes, adjusting supply to demand under rising costs, and Azul intends to follow a similar approach.
"When we made the initial decisions about reductions, we thought the war would already be over by this point. But the conflict continues, so we will keep selectively reducing flight frequency and only operate flights that are economically justified," he said.
According to the company head, most of the cuts in the second quarter affected international routes.
"Further measures will mainly involve reducing the frequency of domestic flights rather than completely stopping service to specific cities," he said.
