BP: Azerbaijan's role as Caspian producer to grow further

There are very stable pipelines that carry resources from the Caspian Sea. There is also the Shah Deniz compression project. Local production facilities are currently building the platform.

Report informs that Gordon Birrell, BP's Executive Vice President for Production and Operations, said this during his speech at Baku Energy Week.

"There is the Karabakh field, which is a subsea tieback to the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field," he said, noting that this will, for the first time in the Caspian Sea, deliver pipelines and cables as a single bundle.

Birrell also spoke about the solar power project in Jabrayil.

"This will help electrify the Sangachal terminal and save gas for export. We are also implementing projects with universities and various institutions not only in energy, but also in the environmental sphere.

This is also very important for our future. At the same time, Azerbaijan has long been a leading producer in the Caspian Sea. I believe this role will grow further in delivering production from Central Asia to Europe and markets beyond," he said.
