BP appoints Ian Tyler as permanent board chairman

British energy company BP has appointed Ian Tyler, former head of construction group Balfour Beatty, as permanent chairman of its board of directors, according to a company statement, cited by Report.

Tyler will take up his duties immediately.

Tyler succeeds Albert Manifold, who was removed from the position in May this year.

Tyler joined BP's board as an independent director in April 2025 and was appointed interim chairman on May 26, 2026.

During his extensive career as an independent director, Tyler has worked with more than 15 chief executives of both public and private companies in the oil and gas, natural resources and engineering sectors.

He currently serves as chairman of the board of Grafton Group plc and as senior independent director of Anglo American plc.
