Bayraktar says implementation of Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan interconnector to begin soon

Preparatory work on the Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan electricity interconnector project is nearing completion, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said at the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying such projects will not only enhance the reliability of electricity supplies but also elevate energy cooperation between the two countries to a strategic level.

"The completion of the preliminary work on the Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan interconnector project and the selection of the optimal option based on technical assessments by our agencies confirm that an important stage has already been completed," Bayraktar said.

The minister expressed confidence that additional feasibility studies being conducted by the system operators would allow the project to be technically refined and that a solid foundation for moving to the implementation stage would be established soon.
