Bassem Tadros: Azerbaijan not an asset, but a strategic energy corridor for us

Azerbaijan is a strategic energy corridor for XRG, the global investment arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC, UAE), Senior Vice President for Asset Management at XRG, Bassem Tadros, said during a panel discussion within the framework of Baku Energy Week.

Report quotes him as saying XRG has much to learn from SOCAR.

"We do not view Azerbaijan as a standalone asset. For us, Azerbaijan is a strategic energy corridor. Moreover, we see it as a partner whose cooperation goes far beyond energy. There are many areas of interaction beyond the energy sector," he noted.

Tadros added that Azerbaijan has significant potential for developing cooperation not only in energy.

"If we talk about the energy sector, here we see long-term, strategic, sustainable, and disciplined capital allocation, and we are focused on the long-term perspective. Today is the time to act, and this is exactly what SOCAR, XRG, and our parent company ADNOC are doing," Tadros emphasized.
