The Balakan Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) has generated a total of 29.7 million kWh of electricity since the start of operations through July 1 of this year.
According to the Ministry of Energy, cited by Report, the plant produces environmentally friendly electricity, and its operation does not result in greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.
The opening of the Balakan SHPP took place on August 3, 2017. The facility was built on the Balakanchay River and has a total capacity of 1.44 MW. As part of the project, a 5.6-meter-high dam was constructed, along with a 2,000-meter-long pipeline with a diameter of 1,550 mm, a 10/0.4 kV substation, and power transmission lines. The plant is equipped with three hydroturbines with a capacity of 0.5 MW each, as well as a hydrogenerator. In addition, a turbine hall and a control building were constructed on the site.
