Azerbaijan, Türkiye aim to expand cooperation in electricity sector

Azerbaijan and Türkiye intend to extend their successful cooperation in the oil and gas sector to the electricity sector, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at a press conference held as part of the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying Baku and Ankara plan to expand electricity links with Eurasian countries.

"This includes the projects we are discussing today: establishing electricity links between Nakhchivan and Türkiye, along the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria route, as well as through the Black Sea. All this will allow us to transmit both electricity generated from renewable sources and electricity in general over long distances to the regions of interest to us," he said.
