From January through November 2021, Azerbaijan exported 288,137 tons of nitrogen fertilizers, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the committee, the monetary value of the exports in the first 11 months of this year reached $69.8 million.
These figures are 4.7 times and 10.2 times more, respectively, compared to last year's same period.
During the reporting period, nitrogen fertilizer accounted for 4% of exports in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector and 0.5% of total exports.
Nitrogen fertilizer is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide Plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019, and can produce up to 660,000 tons of urea per year using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as raw material. Seventy percent of the plant's output is intended for export.
