Azerbaijan participates in SCO energy ministers' meeting

Azerbaijan took part in the 6th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) energy ministers, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry.
According to the ministry, Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov represented Azerbaijan at the meeting.
In his remarks, Abbasov underscored the importance of energy security, sustainability, the application of clean energy technologies, and strengthening international cooperation amid global changes in the energy system. He noted that Azerbaijan, as a Dialogue Partner of the SCO, attaches special importance to developing ties with the organization.
Azerbaijan was highlighted as a reliable energy partner and a key transit hub contributing to regional energy connectivity. Within this framework, plans to create 8 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, along with green energy corridors and interconnector projects, were underscored.
The strategic importance of the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor project was stressed, with support expressed for Kyrgyzstan's participation. The project aims to strengthen energy connectivity among Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, and China, while enabling electricity transmission along the Middle Corridor linking Europe and Asia.
Azerbaijan reaffirmed its readiness to continue contributing to constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation within the SCO platform.
