Azerbaijan increases profits from polypropylene exports by 86% in 2021

In 2021, Azerbaijan exported 84,064 tons of polypropylene in primary forms, up 9.6% from the previous year, the customs declarations indicate, Report informs.

According to the statistics of the State Customs Committee, the value of this amount of polypropylene was $120,027,000, 86.2% more than in 2020.

Last year, the share of polypropylene in exports in the non-oil sector totalled 4.42%. During the reporting period, the share of polypropylene in primary forms in the country's total exports was 0.54%.

Polypropylene is produced at SOCAR Polymer's Polypropylene Plant with an annual production capacity of 184,000 tons. The opening of the Polypropylene Plant took place on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Italy Sergio Mattarella respectively. Polypropylene exports began on October 5, 2018.
