Azerbaijan increases gas exports to Türkiye by almost 2% in 1H25

In January-June 2025, Azerbaijan exported 5.791 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye, which is 1.96% more than in the same period last year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Board of Türkiye (EPDK).
At the same time, 5.520 billion cubic meters of gas out of the total volume of gas exports from Azerbaijan were supplied on the basis of a long-term agreement, 270.91 million cubic meters on a spot basis.
In June, the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Türkiye amounted to 1.19 billion cubic meters, which is 2.3% higher than a year earlier.
At the same time, 922.57 million cubic meters of gas were exported on a long-term basis, 97.26 million cubic meters under the spot mechanism.
In total, Türkiye imported 3.168 billion cubic meters of gas in June (an increase of 36.87%). Including pipeline gas accounted for 2.790 billion cubic meters (88.08% of all supplies, an increase of 43.06%), liquefied natural gas (LNG) - 377.63 million cubic meters (11.92% of all supplies, an increase of 3.72%). In terms of supply volumes in June, Azerbaijan took first place (32.19% of the total volume of supplies to Türkiye).
Russia was in second place, accounting for 30.63% of all supplies, Iran was in third (22%), Algeria was in fourth (8.77%), Turkmenistan was in fifth (3.26%), and the United States was in sixth (3.15%). In June, gas supplies to Türkiye were carried out from six countries: Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Turkmenistan - via pipelines, the United States and Algeria - via LNG.
Gas supplies from Turkmenistan in June amounted to 103.7 million cubic meters. Azerbaijani gas produced within the Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz field development is supplied to Türkiye.
According to EPDK, Azerbaijan exported 11.478 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye in 2024 (an increase of 11.9% compared to 2023).
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov previously stated that the country plans to supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye this year.
