Azerbaijan is studying partnership opportunities with European and Central Asian countries for hydrogen exports, said Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy, Report informs.
Speaking during a student training seminar supported by the agency as part of the preparation of the National Strategic Outlook Document on Hydrogen in Azerbaijan, the official said that long-term contracts and the development of transport technologies are among the key issues for hydrogen exports: "For the first time within COP29, the Hydrogen Declaration was introduced, supported by 70 states and 47 non-state organizations."
Humbatova added that three scenarios have been prepared for hydrogen energy development in Azerbaijan - balanced, accelerated, and ambitious.
"Currently, the most realistic scenario is the balanced development model. Under this scenario, around 500,000 tons of hydrogen production is planned, while the accelerated scenario foresees nearly 1.2 million tons. Hydrogen will be produced both for domestic use and for export," she pointed out.
