Azerbaijan exports over 265,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizer

Azerbaijan exported 265,069.94 tons of nitrogen fertilizer in January-August 2026.

According to Report, citing statistics from the State Customs Committee, the value of nitrogen fertilizer exported in the first seven months of this year amounted to $105.115 million.

Compared with the same period last year, the value of the exported product decreased 1.4-fold, while the volume fell by 8.4%.

Nitrogen fertilizer accounted for 0.48% of Azerbaijan's total exports. Its share in the country's non-oil sector exports in the first eight months of the year was 1.67%.

In January-August 2026, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations worth $33.238 billion. Exports accounted for $21.815 billion of foreign trade turnover, while imports amounted to $11.423 billion. Over the past year, exports increased by 27.8%, while imports declined by 24.1%.

Urea, a nitrogen fertilizer, is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide Plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019, and has the capacity to produce 650,000-660,000 tons of urea annually using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as feedstock. Around 70% of its output is intended for export.
