Azerbaijan exports 213,109 tons of nitrogen fertilizer

Azerbaijan exported 213,108.95 tons of nitrogen fertilizer in January-July 2026, Report informs, citing statistics from the State Customs Committee.

The value of nitrogen fertilizer exports amounted to $88.23 million during the seven-month period.

Compared with the same period last year, the value of exports decreased by 37.1%, while the volume declined by 12%.

Nitrogen fertilizer accounted for 0.46% of Azerbaijan's total exports and 1.49% of exports from the country's non-oil sector during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover reached $29.22 billion in January-July. Exports accounted for $19.34 billion, while imports totaled $9.88 billion. Exports increased by 27% year-on-year, while imports decreased by 27.4%.

Urea, a nitrogen fertilizer, is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant, commissioned on January 16, 2019, has an annual production capacity of 650,000-660,000 tons of urea using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as feedstock.

About 70% of the plant's output is intended for export.
