ADB hopes to expand energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, says country director

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is looking to deepen its cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, Sunniya Durrani-Jamal, ADB Country Director for Azerbaijan, said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, according to Report.

"ADB is a very committed long-term partner of Azerbaijan. We have already invested in renewable energy through the private sector and hope to work more actively with the Ministry of Energy. We are focused on modernizing the thermal energy sector through strategic planning, regulatory reforms, and institutional strengthening," she said.

According to Durrani-Jamal, the modernization and digital transformation of Azerbaijan"s electricity distribution systems are also important priorities.

"Having smarter grids is critically important. The government cannot do this alone, which is why active participation from businesses-both domestically and across the region-is essential," she added.
