Baku hosts conference on Turkology Congress centennial

An international scientific conference titled Turkology: Past, Present and Future – Scientific Traditions and Modern Challenges, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress, was organized by the Construction College under the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.

According to Report, opening the conference, Shamama Amirova, Deputy Director of the College, noted that the main purpose of the event was to study the stages of development of Turkology.

She emphasized that another key goal was to discuss scientific research conducted in various fields: "The conference also aims to examine modern approaches and technologies, research in language and literature, history and culture, education and methodology, as well as economic integration. Expanding international scientific cooperation and identifying new directions of development are among its main objectives."

Speakers included Ilham Enveroglu, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Selçuk University (Türkiye); Nejla Kılınç, academic from Ankara University's Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Landscape Architecture; Mehmet Çelik, Head of the Urban Development Department of Aachen Municipality and representative of Aachen University (Germany); Shikar Gasimov, Professor and academician of the International Scientific Academy of Turkic World Studies; Güzin Ayrancıoğlu, Professor at Ankara University of Music and Arts; Aytac Abbasova, researcher at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), PhD in Philology; Sevinc Aliyeva, Professor and Head of the Monitoring and Linguistic Analysis Department of the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics, along with other participants.

The conference also addressed pressing topics such as shared cultural values of Turkic peoples, Novruz traditions, ancient Turkic mythology, language preservation in the digital era, the impact of artificial intelligence on language, modern teaching methods, issues of national identity in literature, and economic integration within the Turkic world.
