Mikayil Jabbarov holds cooperation talks with senior official of US State Department

Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with Brendan Hanrahan, a senior official of the US State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Report informs.

The sides exchanged views on strengthening institutional foundations between Azerbaijan and the US, new cooperation mechanisms, and investment initiatives.

At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the development dynamics of economic relations between the two countries, and the work to be done to elevate cooperation to a new stage was discussed.

The parties emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Strategic Working Group for the preparation of the Strategic Partnership Charter between Azerbaijan and the US. This initiative is of particular importance in terms of strengthening the institutional foundations of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Azerbaijan's priorities for developing economic cooperation with the US were also presented. It was noted that economic reforms implemented in Azerbaijan, improvement of the business environment, and strategic infrastructure projects create favorable opportunities for US companies.

As a continuation of meetings held in Washington – discussions with the US Export-Import Bank (US EXIM Bank), SpaceX, Exxon Mobil, and other leading organizations – views were exchanged on new cooperation mechanisms and investment initiatives.

The discussions focused on continuing work on the Zangazur corridor (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity – TRIPP) and the contributions that the implementation of regional transport and logistics projects will make to economic cooperation.
