Türkiye introducing digital monitoring, green certification for buildings

Türkiye is implementing a digital monitoring system and national green certification to improve energy efficiency in buildings and reduce carbon emissions, Murat Bayram, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, said at the 4th Climate Week (CW4) in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying the construction sector, which accounts for a significant share of global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, plays a critical role in achieving climate change mitigation goals.

"We are developing data-driven policies through a digital monitoring system aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in buildings," Bayram said.

He also announced the implementation of Türkiye's SDR National Green Certification System, noting that it promotes sustainable buildings and settlements while supporting the green transition in the construction sector.

Bayram added that Türkiye aims to share best practices to foster collective climate action.
