Minister: Access to global markets essential for Azerbaijan's mineral resources

Access to global markets for mineral resources extracted in Azerbaijan and their processed products is an important requirement, Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov said at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku.

According to Report, he noted that large-scale reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur are creating new opportunities for the efficient use of mineral resources.

"Every project being implemented should, alongside contributing to employment and exports, be aligned with plans for the reconstruction of the territories, water resources and the sensitivity of ecosystems. Another important requirement is access to global markets for extracted mineral resources and processed products. Azerbaijan's location along the strategic Middle Corridor provides us and our partners with an additional advantage in diversifying transport routes and expanding regional cooperation," Ismayilov said.
