Deputy minister: Discussions on climate action strategy for 2026–2030 underway

Azerbaijan holds discussions on its climate action strategy for 2026–2030, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva stated during Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

Taghiyeva emphasized that the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development" plan serves as the main reference for all activities. The strategy prioritizes combating climate change, implementing green technologies in liberated territories, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

"It is planned to transform the liberated areas into zero-emission zones. Our efforts include forest preservation, expansion of green spaces, hydrometeorological monitoring services, and protection of the Caspian Sea's ecological environment. Achieving these goals and accelerating the transition requires a strong legal framework, equality, institutional and humanitarian foundations, and sustainable policies," she stated.
