In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, a multi‑year record for May rainfall has been registered.
According to Report, the current precipitation levels range between 70–103 mm, which corresponds to 355–523% of the monthly norm.
In May 1963, rainfall in Baku reached 106 mm, exceeding the long‑term norm by 5.4 times.
Other notable records include:
- 2010: 29 mm in a single day (147% of monthly norm), 39 mm total for the month (200%).
- 2024: 20 mm in a single day (102%), 33 mm total for the month (167%).
- 2025: 6 mm in a single day (30%), 9 mm total for the month (46%).
