Azerbaijan plans to create an early warning system in climate-vulnerable regions, which will allow farmers to receive information about weather threats in advance and take measures to reduce possible damage, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova said at a panel session during Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.
According to her, timely receipt of data on air temperature, precipitation, and other weather conditions is of particular importance for farmers.
Gadimova emphasized that digital transformation and artificial intelligence can play an important role in increasing the climate resilience of Azerbaijan's agriculture. This approach is reflected in the State Program for the Development of Agricultural Production and Processing, Fishery, and Aquaculture for 2026-2030, she said.
"The program provides for more efficient management of land and water resources, expansion of the application of modern irrigation technologies, digitalization and innovation, as well as the creation of an early warning system in climate-vulnerable regions," Gadimova noted.
