Two years pass since liberation of Gubadli 

Today, October 25, is the second anniversary of the liberation of Gubadli from the Armenian occupation.

Report informs that on October 25, 2020, the President of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, said in his address to the nation that the city of Gubadli and several villages of Zangilan, Jabrayil, and Gubadli districts were liberated from occupation.

After the liberation of the district from occupation, restoration and reconstruction work was started there. In addition to demining operations of the area, infrastructure restoration works are also ongoing.

Using the existing 50-meter tower of the Khanliq Radio-Television Broadcasting Station, 8 TV Channels and 2 radio programs are broadcast in the city of Gubadli and 12 villages of the district (Alibeyli, Goturbulag, Khojahan, Gapanli, Mughanli, Hal, Khanliq, Hanzali, Efendili, Gazyan, Saray, Yukhari Mollu).

At the same time, in order to fight against violations of customs rules in the lands freed from occupation, the Gubadli customs post of the Southern Territory General Customs was established in the district.

At the same time, the construction of the Gubadli-Eyvazli highway, which will play an important role in the socio-economic development of Karabakh and the East Zangazur economic region, is being continued by the order of President Ilham Aliyev.

On this day last year, President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Gubadli district. The head of state and First Lady participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Khanliq-Gubadli highway, starting from the 10th kilometer of the Khudafarin-Gubadli-Lachin highway to the city center of Gubadli, the opening of the system-important 110/35/10 kV "Gubadli" substation of "Azerenergy" OJSC, and the military unit of the State Border Service. Then President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met with representatives of the community of the Gubadli district.

Also, the head of state and the first lady visited the Gubadli district on October 19 this year. Thus, President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the projects of "Bargushadchay" and "Zabukhchay" reservoirs in the district and laid the foundation of the Digital Control Center of Gubadli Power Grid. The General Plan of Gubadli City was presented to the Head of State and the First Lady. President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Occupation and Victory museums in Gubadli.

The Gubadli District was established in 1933 as an administrative-territorial unit. Gubadli was occupied by the Armenian armed forces on August 31, 1993. Ahead of the occupation, the number of the district population was 29,903. The population consists of Azerbaijanis. They lived in 93 villages and the district center, Gubadli. Most of them lived in villages. The average population density was 37 people per square kilometer.

The terrain of the Gubadli district is mainly mountainous. Its rivers - Bazarchay, Hakari, and their tributaries (Kichik Hakari, Meydanderesi, etc.) are used in irrigation.

Brown mountain-forest soils are mainly spread in the region. The area of forests is 13,200 hectares.
