Rare car import incentive applications open in Azerbaijan

New rules have been established regarding the application of tax and customs exemptions during the importation of rare cars to Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Culture.

According to the new legislation, based on a confirmation document issued by the Ministry of Culture, a person will be able to import only one rare car into the country under preferential terms during a calendar year.

Tax and customs exemptions are applied to rare motor vehicles imported by a person on the basis of a confirmation document, not exceeding one unit during the calendar year (a total of 10 units across the country).

For this purpose, the Ministry of Culture has prepared the "Rules for issuing a confirmation document on the import of rare (rarity) motor vehicles into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan under preferential terms".

According to the Rules, the Expert Commission that will operate under the ministry will review the applications and give an opinion on whether the cars comply with the rare status. During the assessment, the historical and cultural significance, rarity, collectible value, originality, technical condition, and other criteria of the car will be taken into account.

The application of the new mechanism will serve to ensure transparency and objectivity in the assessment of rare cars, as well as to encourage the importation of cars with high historical and collectible value into the country.

The acceptance of electronic applications from persons wishing to obtain a confirmation document for preferential import begins on July 9, 2026, at 14:00. Applications will be accepted electronically through my.culture.az information system.

Applications will be evaluated in two stages. In the first stage, the submitted documents will be reviewed, and the Expert Commission will then examine and assess the car.

Those who wish to obtain additional information can call the Ministry of Culture's 147 Call Center or contact the e-mail address info@culture.gov.az.
