"In terms of poverty reduction, I believe that we have successfully overcome this global scourge, and the poverty rate in Azerbaijan is about five per cent," President Ilham Aliyev told the 5 March meeting with UN Resident Coordinator Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Report informs.
"This shows that we have been able to use the revenues from the energy sector for the equal distribution of wealth. Of course, new opportunities pertaining to the economic reforms and employment will create a new picture in Azerbaijan, because our population is growing. Therefore, employment and, of course, issues related to the level of poverty, are of particular importance," the president said.
