MP: Nakhchivan entering new stage of development

Nakhchivan is one of the regions that holds a special place in Azerbaijan's history of statehood, MP Aydin Huseynov told Report.

He said the autonomous republic, which had been under blockade for many years, faced serious social and economic difficulties.

Despite this, Nakhchivan preserved its development, and today new opportunities are opening up for the region, the MP noted.

Huseynov said that, in this regard, National Leader Heydar Aliyev's activities in Nakhchivan should be particularly emphasized.

"In the early 1990s, when Nakhchivan was in an extremely difficult situation, Heydar Aliyev's return here was an important historical event. Under his leadership, important steps were taken to protect the security and social stability of the autonomous republic and overcome the difficulties caused by the blockade. At the same time, important decisions were made to preserve and strengthen Nakhchivan's traditions of statehood," he said.

"Today, this political course is being continued by President Ilham Aliyev at a new stage. The president's attention to Nakhchivan and the orders he has signed have provided serious support for the autonomous republic's socio-economic development. In recent years, road and transport infrastructure has been renewed, social facilities have been built, and various economic projects have been implemented here," Huseynov added.

The MP stressed that President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Nakhchivan yesterday is also of great importance in this regard.

"This visit can be viewed not only as an assessment of the work carried out, but also in terms of determining the future development directions of Nakhchivan. The messages delivered by the president during the visit show that increasing economic activity, expanding infrastructure opportunities and strengthening the autonomous republic's regional ties will be among the main priorities in Nakhchivan's future development," he said.

Huseynov added that Nakhchivan's economic potential is not limited to this, noting that there are broad opportunities for implementing new projects in industry, agriculture, tourism and the services sector.
