MP: Azerbaijan's role in int’l relations significantly increases

The situation in the Middle East, the rise of China, the India-Pakistan conflict, and other processes are indicators of global instability, MP Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations Committee of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), said during the discussion themed "The Rise of the Global South and the West: Azerbaijan's Role, New Opportunities for Cooperation and Development" held in the committee. He noted that Azerbaijan, thanks to President Ilham Aliyev, acts based on new realities formed in the region:

"The country's place and role in international relations have significantly increased. As the President said, at the very least, taking us into account is an important matter in the region."

The chairman emphasized that the Azerbaijani parliament currently chairs five international organizations: "During this difficult period when the Global South's confrontation with the West on political and economic issues is increasing and relations are becoming more complex, Azerbaijan is demonstrating its exceptional potential."
