To date, the YASHAT Foundation has resolved nearly 110,000 requests from 19,268 martyrs' family members, war-disabled individuals, and veterans, said Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
In an interview with Baku TV, Mehdiyev stated that approximately 96 million manats (approximately $56.5 million) have been spent for these purposes: "Currently, there are no outstanding issues regarding the treatment of martyrs' families, war-disabled individuals, or veterans – at least no such requests have reached us. Initially, the foundation covered debts, household equipment for apartments, and certain education costs. Today, martyrs' children and war-disabled individuals are exempt from tuition fees, past debts have been settled, and housing support remains under state supervision. As a result, the foundation now focuses mainly on medical services, specifically for conditions not covered under compulsory health insurance."
Mehdiyev explained that through the YASHAT Foundation, beneficiaries receive surgeries, treatments, and medicines.
He also noted that since the end of the war, 120 children of martyrs have been born: "Each child has a bank account opened in their name with 5,000 manats deposited. The funds remain untouched until they turn 16, accruing interest, ensuring sufficient support for their future."
He highlighted that the foundation maintains a dedicated website with transparency reports.
The chairman further emphasized that over the past six years, the number of problems has sharply decreased: "Requests are fewer now, and donations have also declined – which is a natural process. The YASHAT Foundation is a platform created for citizens. If donations continue, the foundation will carry on its mission; otherwise, its activities will gradually be limited."
