Violence and killings against Azerbaijanis in Russia carried out without investigation and trial are unacceptable and this incident gives the impression of a deliberate crime, Azerbaijani MP Konul Nurullayeva told Report.
The MP noted that the brutal killing, insulting, and torturing of Azerbaijanis without presenting any official evidence regarding a criminal incident that occurred 25 years ago is both absurd and a gross violation of international law:
"In general, there has been an observed increase in pressure against our compatriots in Russia recently. Ethnic discrimination against migrants was openly manifesting itself. Such behaviors also negatively affect relations between the two countries. The Russian government did not take adequate measures regarding the plane crash that occurred at the end of last year, and the criminals still remain unpunished."
Konul Nurullayeva added that violence was committed against civilians who did not resist during the recent incident, and a fair and transparent investigation should be conducted regarding this matter: "The Azerbaijani side has expressed its official protest regarding the incident. The issue should be taken seriously and the criminals should receive their punishment."
