Contacts with Armenia on the peace process continue in several areas, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, Report informs.
According to the minister, at this stage in the normalization process, no serious steps have been observed from Armenia: "Azerbaijan has expectations from Armenia. This is the renunciation of territorial claims and the liquidation of the OSCE Minsk Group. We are monitoring these processes. There are contacts, but no serious steps have been observed yet."
The foreign minister reminded that Armenia first handed over minefield maps to Azerbaijan in June 2021, and subsequently, they were handed over in stages.
However, according to the minister, the accuracy of these maps remains extremely low.
"Their accuracy is less than 25%. Since November 2020, about 400 mine-related incidents have occurred in the liberated territories, killing almost 70 people. Armenia has not provided any data on more than half of these territories where mine incidents occurred," the minister said.
Bayramov also noted that the first contacts on the border delimitation issue have already taken place between the parties, and work in this direction will continue. In addition, the foreign minister stressed that Azerbaijan expects Armenia to fulfill its commitments to unblock the transport and communication lines between Nakhchivan and the western regions of Azerbaijan.
