Holocaust victims commemorated in Azerbaijan's Red Settlement

On January 27, a thematic exhibition marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was opened at the Museum of Mountain Jews in the Red Settlement of Azerbaijan's Guba district, Report informs.
The exhibition featured photographs of Holocaust victims - one of the cruelest tragedies of the 20th century - who were brutally murdered by the German Nazis at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The event was attended by Amy Carlon, US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan; German Zakharyayev, President of the International Charity Foundation of Mountain Jews (STMEGI); and Vladislav Yusupov, Chief Curator of the Museum.
Museum Director Igor Shaulov briefed the participants on the museum's activities, as well as the history, culture, and traditions of the Mountain Jews and their role in Azerbaijan's history.
In her remarks, US Chargé d'Affaires Amy Carlon highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of the tragedy and combating antisemitism.
The participants lit candles in memory of the Holocaust victims and concluded their visit by touring Azerbaijan's Red Settlement.
