Farid Zeynalov: Disinformation on digital platforms can mislead public opinion

Disinformation spread on digital platforms can mislead public opinion, Farid Zeynalov, chairman of Azerbaijan's National Cybersecurity Agency, said at an event as part of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, Report informs.

He noted that this in itself can create risks: "With the development of these technologies, new challenges exist. Information security is no longer just a technical issue; it has simultaneously become a component of national security, an integral part of social stability and development. Children and adolescents can face threats on social media. If used uncontrolled, digital platforms can lead to addiction. Addressing this problem is the responsibility not only of the state but also of families, educational institutions, and society."

Zeynalov added that Azerbaijan is taking measures to protect children from threats on social media: "The draft law on introducing restrictions on children's use of social media in Azerbaijan is also a priority for society."
