The full integration of mine victims into society should not be limited to medical assistance and rehabilitation, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Hidayat Abdullayev stated during a panel discussion within the 4th International Mine Action Conference themed "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements."
According to Report, he emphasized the importance of creating comprehensive mechanisms that ensure social protection, vocational training, employment, and economic independence for mine victims.
According to Abdullayev, Azerbaijan's main goal in combating mine threats is not only to provide rehabilitation but also to enable victims to return to independent life and achieve full participation in society:
"In Azerbaijan, extensive measures are being implemented for the social protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration of mine victims and persons disabled due to war. Mine contamination remains one of the main obstacles preventing people from safely returning to liberated territories and hindering reconstruction. Therefore, alongside demining, medical, psychological, and social rehabilitation of mine victims has been identified as a key priority."
